Giving Back
We feel strongly about giving back to our wonderful community. Here are a few ways we have contributed!
Wiarton Bike Bus
The Wiarton Bike Bus is an initiative started in May 2025 to get students biking to Peninsula Shores DS, with the overall goal of getting our kids active, increasing our sense of community, being environmentally friendly and making our town more bike friendly. Christine is on the board of the founding committee, and participates regularly as a volunteer.
Empty Bowls
Empty Bowls is an annual fundraising event in September which raises money for our local food bank. Local potters generously donate handmade bowls, local chefs prepare soups from scratch, and ticket holders choose a handmade bowl (which they also take home at the end), and spend a few hours sampling the delicious soups. Ticketholders can vote with cash for their favourite soup(s), and at the end a prize for the best soup is awarded to one lucky chef! Christine is on the board which organizes the event.
Deep Water Gallery
The Deep Water Gallery in downtown Wiarton is entirely run by volunteers. Offering many different shows throughout the year, the gallery showcases the work of local artists. Christine and Mass volunteer on the board and sponsor the annual Catalyst show, which features the art of students from our local highschool.
